Abscesses |
| |
Abscesses are actually formations
of puss that appear as tumors on the surface of
a rabbit. When puss forms in rabbits it is actually
very thick in comparison to other animals. However,
this makes it very difficult to drain with conventional
methods that may work very well with other pets.
When rabbits have abscesses under their skin they
often must be removed surgically just like a tumor.
After surgery antiobiotics are almost always prescribed
to limit the chance of infection.
Abscesses form due to infection and can form
in a single or multiple spots on the rabbit and
on various places of the body. These abscesses
can also be vary in size significantly.
