Antibiotics |
| |
With humans you must be very careful
to not overuse antibiotics, rabbits are no different.
Antibiotics should only be used when a veterinarian
prescribes them. Obviously rabbits eat a large
amount of plant matter which means they require
bacteria within them to break it down. Without
this bacteria serious digestive problems can occur
in your rabbit. Antibiotics which are taken orally
by rabbits have a tendency to kill the beneficial
bacteria.
Never give your rabbit antibiotics which have
been prescribed for humans. These can be far to
strong for a rabbit to handle and can even be
fatal. The only time you should give your rabbit
antibiotics is after you have taken it to the
vet and he or she gave you directions to do so.
