The Broom Hare comes from northern
areas of Spain. When fully grown the Broom Hare
is generally about 2 feet in length. Most of these
hares have both black and brown color on them
with a completely white belly. The activities
and characteristics of the Broom Hare are very
similar to that of the European
Hare and until recently they had been considered
the same species.
Hunting is the major reason for the Broom Hare
being listed as vulnerable. They have a relatively
small range and their numbers are dwindling over
recent years. In the winter is when they are most
vulnerable and hunters are known to take advantage
of this.
